If you missed the match, read all about it here: AC Milan claims victory against 10-man Napoli in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
In what was a frustrating night for Napoli, with injured striker Victor Osimhen on the sidelines and midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa getting sent off, Ismael Bennacer’s first-half goal gave Milan the crucial edge in the tie.
Milan, who secured a massive 4-0 win over Napoli in their recent Serie A encounter, won 1-0 in this match. Rafael Leao of Milan came close to scoring in the first half, while Piotr Zielinski of Napoli forced Milan to tip the ball over the bar from a distance. Bennacer scored the only goal of the match a few minutes before the half-time whistle, capitalizing on an excellent run and cross by Brahim Diaz and Leao.
Although Napoli had some opportunities, the visitors failed to score, and Milan’s strong defense kept them from finding the back of the net. Anguissa got himself a red card in the second half, reducing Napoli to ten men for the rest of the match. Despite the late attempts by Napoli, including Di Lorenzo’s near-post shot, Milan held on to their win.
