“April 8, 2023: Football Match Report – Torino vs. AS Roma”

AS Roma Defeats Torino 1-0 with Paulo Dybala Penalty, Jumps to Third in Serie A

Paulo Dybala's goal sent Roma into Serie A's top four with a win over Torino

AS Roma clinched a crucial 1-0 victory over Torino on Saturday in Serie A, thanks to a precise Paulo Dybala penalty and a solid defensive display. The win, combined with their rivals’ poor performances, propelled Roma to third place in the table, paving the way to potentially qualify for next season’s Champions League.

With nine games remaining in the league, Jose Mourinho’s squad boasts 53 points and is currently one point ahead of AC Milan. They are two points behind Lazio, who will face off against Juventus later on Saturday.

The only goal of the game came early on in the eighth minute when Dybala expertly dispatched a penalty following Torino’s Perr Schuurs’ handball. Roma’s defense then shut down Torino’s midfield, making it difficult for them to create any opportunities throughout most of the match.

Despite their overall control of the game, Roma had to endure a late scare when Torino’s Pietro Pellegri narrowly missed the equalizer.

Roma’s next fixture is the Europa League quarter-final against Feyenoord on Thursday before facing Udinese in Serie A on April 16.
