Arsenal’s Big Summer Clearout: Who’s In and Who’s Out?
As Arsenal gear up for a return to the Champions League, the club is set to let go of several first-team players. Despite being eight points clear of Manchester City in second place with only 10 games left to play, the management is planning for a long-term future. Although Arteta has a strong core of regular players, the futures of several others remain uncertain.
According to The Sun, one of the most notable departures could be Nicolas Pepe, the club-record signing, whose £140,000-a-week wages may make him difficult to offload. Other loaned players such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Alex Runarsson, Cedric Soares, and Pablo Mari are also likely to be up for sale. Mari has an obligation to join Monza for around £5 million if the team avoids relegation – and they are currently 15 points clear with 11 fixtures left to play.
Meanwhile, football.london suggests that Emile Smith Rowe, a fan favorite, may be sacrificed due to a year of injury setbacks. The No. 10 has struggled to re-establish himself this season and could be valued at around €38m on Transfermarkt.
In addition to these potential departures, The Sun claims that Arsenal is looking to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United. Should they manage to secure his services, either Thomas Partey or Jorginho could be on their way out.
All in all, Arsenal could fetch at least £125m from these player sales alone, putting them in a strong position to pursue some big moves this summer. The club has also been linked with several potential signings, including Raheem Sterling, Raphinha, Rasmus Holjund, and Ivan Fresneda. Will Arsenal pull off a summer transfer coup? Only time will tell!
