Athletics News: Reports of Bust-Up are Denied by Laura Muir’s Coach Following Departure from South Africa Training Camp

Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie Wrap Up Altitude Training and Return to UK for World Championships Preparations

Renowned athletes Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie are already gearing up for the upcoming World Championships in Budapest this year as they recently completed their altitude training in South Africa. However, the duo is now back in the UK and has resumed their training in Loughborough.

Rumors about a possible bust-up between the pair and their coach, Andy Young, have been circulating online. But Young has since refuted these claims, explaining that the two athletes have simply expressed concern regarding his health and well-being. Denying that there was any bust-up, he believes that the athletes were only overthinking the situation.

Under Young’s guidance, Muir has already bagged various prestigious titles, including Olympic 1500m silver, world 1500m bronze, and two European Championship titles, to name a few. Meanwhile, Reekie has also established herself as a notable athlete, finishing fourth in the 800m at the Tokyo Olympics and clinching fifth place in the same event at last year’s European Championships and 1500m at the Commonwealth Games.

In a statement released by UK Athletics, the organization confirmed that both talented athletes have come back to the UK from their altitude training location. UK Athletics assures that its World Class Programme staff and services continue to work closely with Muir and Reekie to provide them with the support they need to review their training and competition schedules for the upcoming season.
