Boxing News: Controversial Victory for Michael Gomez Jr over Levi Giles and Frazer Clarke Halts Bogdan Dinu in Two Rounds

Michael Gomez Jr secures English super-featherweight title after ill-tempered weigh-in

The rivalry between Michael Gomez Jr and Levi Giles began at their ill-tempered weigh-in. Gomez Jr sent Giles flying to the floor. The fight, however, went ahead and Giles showed no after-effects in the first half of the bout, moving laterally and punching with classy counters. Despite Gomez Jr’s forward push, Giles didn’t back down, even snapping in straight crosses. However, Gomez Jr remained undeterred, continuing his direct approach in the second half. With time running out, Gomez Jr started to grind down Giles, slowing him down and gradually emerging as the winner in a split decision.

Frazer Clarke halts heavyweight Bogdan Dinu in two rounds at the AO Arena in Manchester

In a heavyweight contest, Bogdan Dinu gallantly stepped in to box Olympic bronze medallist Frazer Clarke, replacing Rydell Booker after the American was taken seriously ill. Clarke’s hooks to the body looked punishing, and despite picking up a cut over his right eye in the first round, he stayed busy and attacked Dinu. In the end, Dinu withdrew with a rib injury after two rounds, allowing Clarke to maintain his perfect start to his professional career. Clarke thanked Dinu for saving the show and looked forward to healing his cut and participating in the next BOXXER show on May 6.
