Filip Hrgovic, the IBF’s top-rated heavyweight contender, is waiting eagerly for Oleksandr Usyk to step up and fight him. Talks between Usyk, the unified IBF, WBO and WBA champion and Tyson Fury collapsed recently. However, Hrgovic could potentially be the mandatory challenger for the IBF belt that Usyk holds. Hrgovic’s promoter, Kalle Sauerland, confirmed that the Croatian contender is ready to fight him. In his last fight, Hrgovic won an IBF eliminator when he defeated Zhilei Zhang. Sauerland implies that Hrgovic could give any heavyweight a tough time in the ring. Since the WBA is expected to call their mandatory challenger first, Daniel Dubois of Britain may also have a chance to fight Usyk. However, Sauerland believes that Fury vs Usyk could still take place later this year.
