There’s no love lost between the No. 13 U.S. and their rivals, the 15th-ranked Mexico, who also play an exhibition match on April 19 at Glendale, Arizona. This match isn’t on a FIFA fixture date, so both teams are unlikely to have most of their Europe-based players.

The U.S. team has a strong record against Mexico, beating them 2-0 at Cincinnati and drawing 0-0 at Mexico City during the World Cup qualifying. They went on to defeat El Tri 3-2 in extra time in the 2021 Nations League final at Denver and won 1-0 in that year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup final at Las Vegas.

The U.S. men’s national team secured their place in the Nations League semifinals with a stunning 1-0 victory over El Salvador on Monday. Mexico also booked their place the previous night in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Jamaica.
