Manchester City’s midfielder Phil Foden has left the England squad after undergoing surgery for acute appendicitis, raising concerns about his availability for subsequent matches. The Premier League club confirmed the surgery on Sunday, just ahead of England’s Euro 2024 qualifier vs. Ukraine.
The 22-year-old managed to play 12 minutes in England’s previous 2-1 win against Italy before returning to London for the surgery.

According to a statement released by City, “He will not be fit for this weekend’s Premier League game at home to Liverpool, and it is unclear at this stage how long he will be unavailable for.”
City, who are second in the Premier League, will host Liverpool on Saturday, whereas England will face Ukraine at Wembley later on Sunday.
