Manchester United Manager Praises Loan Striker Wout Weghorst, Hopes to Keep Him Next Season
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is singing the praises of loan striker Wout Weghorst, despite the Dutchman only scoring twice in 18 games. While Weghorst has been the subject of mockery for his lack of goals, ten Hag insists that the tall striker’s contribution to the team goes beyond scoring.
“He’s the leader of our press and links up really well,” says ten Hag. “He makes good movements and makes space for others and is good in set-plays. He is really contributing to this team.”
Ten Hag even hopes to keep Weghorst for next season, despite the loan expiring.
While Weghorst makes his ninth consecutive Premier League start against Newcastle on Sunday, Manchester United should have Marcus Rashford available after he missed England duty with a knock, and Anthony Martial is set to return from injury to the bench.
