Ferdinand and his fellow pundit, Joe Cole, refused to stand on the badge to avoid any signs of disrespect to the Spanish giants. He took to social media to share a video explaining their decision and to request a change in the pitchside set to ensure that they didn’t offend Real Madrid. The incident occurred a day after Joao Cancelo decided not to stand on Manchester City’s badge during his return to the club. The holders, Real Madrid, went on to win the match 2-0 in their Champions League quarter-final.
