Brighton Boss Accuses Tottenham’s Christian Stellini of Disrespect
The Tottenham-Brighton match on Saturday was nothing short of fiery as both coaches were shown red cards. But it’s the frosty pitchside confrontation between Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton’s boss, and Christian Stellini, Tottenham’s acting head coach that caught the attention of many. Even before the match began, tension was already bubbling between the two coaches with an apparent angry confrontation from De Zerbi towards Stellini at the pre-match handshake.
Things didn’t improve as the match went on, and they found themselves in a confrontation that earned them both red cards. While Stellini remained less forthcoming about the incident, De Zerbi accused the former of disrespecting him by commenting midweek that the latter carried on the good work of Potter, his predecessor.
“I’m used to always respecting everyone inside and outside of the pitch,” said De Zerbi, who was not happy about what Stellini said, which he found disrespectful. De Zerbi then added that while he always respects everyone, he expects the same treatment.
With the club planning to appeal his red card and questions raised about VAR’s relevance, there’s no telling how this match’s aftermath could end.
