Frank Lampard’s return to Stamford Bridge was eventful, to say the least. Just days after being appointed as interim manager, Lampard was due to travel to Madrid to do co-commentary for Chelsea’s crucial Champions League tie with Real Madrid. However, a sudden change of plan saw him heading to the Spanish capital in a very different capacity, with the eyes of the football world fixed firmly upon him. Lampard faces a difficult task in his second stint as Chelsea boss, with the reigning champions led by his former manager, Carlo Ancelotti, waiting in the quarter-finals. In addition to picking the team, working out tactics, and motivating the players, Lampard has inherited a squad that’s struggling in 11th place. His first game back in charge is against Wolves, and he’s determined to do everything he can to show that he’s capable of coaching and managing really well. The future may be uncertain, but Lampard is focused on the moment and determined to make a difference.
