Gary Neville says Manchester United was “well beaten” and “let Erik ten Hag down”

Manchester United Let Erik ten Hag Down in Defeat against Newcastle: Gary Neville

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville rued the Red Devils’ uninspiring performance against Newcastle on Sunday, resulting in a 2-0 defeat that saw them drop to fourth in the Premier League table.

Newcastle secured all three points with goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson in the second half, while Manchester United could only muster one shot on target out of their six and were beaten comprehensively with 21 shots against them.

Neville, who was working as an analyst for Sky Sports at St. James’ Park, expressed his disappointment at the team, stating: “Sometimes Manchester United flip-flop from one performance to another, first half to second. But Erik ten Hag has not been able to impact his team in the second half and they’ve really let him down today.”

Manchester United, who are equal on points with Newcastle at 50 after 27 matches played this season, face the prospect of dropping out of the top four if Tottenham beats Everton on Monday.
