Sunderland Winger Jack Diamond Suspended After Being Charged with Rape and Sexual Assault
Sunderland has suspended Jack Diamond, aged 23, after he was charged with rape and sexual assault in Tyne and Wear in May 2022. This has led to the termination of his loan spell at Lincoln City as well. Northumbria Police had launched an investigation earlier and charged him over the sexual assault. Lincoln has released a statement about his loan termination without providing any reason for it.
Sunderland with its Black Cats stated on their website that Diamond has been suspended with immediate effect and his loan agreement at Lincoln City Football Club has also been terminated. The police spokesperson confirmed that Diamond has been charged with rape and sexual assault and is due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court in May. Prior to his loan termination, Diamond scored six goals and four assists in 31 league matches.
