Luis Enrique reveals his desire to manage in the Premier League
Former Spain and Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has expressed his interest to manage in the Premier League, following his departure as the Spanish head coach in the 2022 World Cup. Although he hasn’t received any offers from England yet, he has been linked with Tottenham after the departure of Antonio Conte this week.
Sources disclosed that the former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is one of the potential candidates to become the new manager at Spurs.
Luis Enrique, who enjoyed a successful three-year spell at the helm of Barca winning the Champions League, LaLiga title and the Copa del Rey in his first season in charge, told Cadena Ser radio, “I follow above all the Premier [League] because I would like to go to England to work. I wouldn’t go to any team but to one that could do important things, which greatly reduces the number.”
The 52-year-old emphasized that he is in no hurry to return to management. He joked that he was lucky because his personal life fills him up. However, he didn’t rule out taking on another national team role if the right opportunity comes up.
He said, “No one from Brazil has contacted me. I’ve had offers from national teams but not from clubs. I don’t rule it out. It would have to be a very, very powerful national team for me to accept.”
