Manchester United set to sign Harry Kane with Erik ten Hag at the helm
Manchester United Chiefs are reportedly eager to sign Tottenham’s star striker, Harry Kane, this summer. With Wout Weghorst’s return to Burnley uncertain, Erik ten Hag, the man in charge of United, is keen to bring a goal-scoring forward to Old Trafford. United officials are reportedly willing to fork out £80million to land Kane, who enters the final year of his contract with Spurs. It remains to be seen if that will be enough to secure Kane’s signature, with Tottenham said to be looking for well over £100m.
Nonetheless, United officials are keen to strike a deal, with Kane’s imminent free agency in 2024 in their favour. While Daniel Levy notoriously drives a hard bargain, Kane may push for the move, leaving Manchester United as the only viable destination in the Premier League.
Bayern Munich may also be interested, but the price tag may be too steep. Ten Hag has been vocal about his desire to bring in a striker of Kane’s calibre, which would undoubtedly boost United’s already brilliant form. United won the Carabao Cup earlier this season and remain in the hunt for both the FA Cup and Europa League.
The decision may come down to whoever becomes the next Spurs’ manager, but with the possibility of Julian Nagelsmann taking over the reins, the move to United for Kane may become all the more likely. Catch all the action from talkSPORT on Saturday 1 April, with Roy Hodgson’s return to Selhurst Park and Anthony Joshua’s return added to the mix.
