Manchester United to Negotiate Long-term Deal with Star Player Marcus Rashford
Manchester United football club is set to initiate contract talks with Marcus Rashford, the star-striker, before the end of this season, according to reliable sources at ESPN. Although Rashford’s current contract got extended by a year in December 2022, the club is eager to reach a long-term deal with him.
The sources close to Rashford have confirmed that he is currently focused on performing his best for the team, but his representatives expect to make a significant stride in the negotiations’ direction before the end of the ongoing campaign. The club’s goal is to finalize the deal by the start of next season and even ideally by the end of this year.
Paris Saint-Germain has shown interest in Rashford in the past, but he is widely expected to remain at United, where Rashford is currently enjoying a successful season under the guidance of manager Erik ten Hag, who reportedly still perceives him as a vital part of his plans.
As per insiders, United is also keen on recruiting another striker ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, while simultaneously listening to offers for several senior players, including Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Dean Henderson, to increase the summer budget and navigate the financial fair play constraints.
The likes of Eric Bailly and Alex Telles will be allowed to leave permanently after completing their loan spells, whereas Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams are likely to move out on loans. Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are also set to leave Old Trafford at the end of their contracts in June.
Moreover, United is conducting an internal investigation to decide on Mason Greenwood’s future after criminal charges against the youngster were dropped in February. Although Greenwood is technically under contract until 2025, he hasn’t played or trained since January 2022.
