Breaking News: Chelsea Announces Departure of Graham Potter as Manager
In a shocking development, Chelsea Football Club has announced the departure of Graham Potter as manager following their recent 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. This loss saw the Blues drop into the bottom half of the Premier League and marked Potter’s fourth defeat since the World Cup break.
Despite starting with three wins in a row after succeeding Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge in September, Potter’s poor form in the Premier League has led to his departure.
In a statement released on Sunday evening, the west London club stated that Graham Potter has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition, but did not offer any further details at this time.
During his time with the club, Potter managed to take them to the quarter-final of the Champions League, where they will soon face off against Real Madrid.
The club had hoped that the win over Borussia Dortmund in the last eight of the Champions League would be a turning point, but their poor form in the Premier League has not improved, leaving winning the competition as their only viable route back into it for next season.
Despite the challenge that lies ahead, Chelsea’s co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have stated that they are fully committed to ending the season on a high and that they and the fans will be supporting interim head coach Bruno Saltor and the team for the remainder of the season.
