Liverpool set to sign the next Kalidou Koulibaly in £60m deal
Liverpool and Manchester United are both seeking to improve their defenses this season after struggling with defensive issues. Liverpool has heavily relied on Virgil van Dijk, while Manchester United has depended on Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in defense with little cover beyond that. However, both teams have their sights set on the same target, the new Kalidou Koulibaly, dubbed the best center back in Serie A, Kim Min-jae.
According to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, Liverpool is in pole position to sign South Korean international Kim and is willing to pay over £60 million to secure his services. Although Napoli is a selling club, Kim’s value is estimated at €50m by Transfermarkt, which could cause Liverpool to pay an even higher price for the center-back.

Despite this, Kim has been a standout player for Napoli, leading them to a potential title charge and winning accolades for his style, making him an ideal target for Liverpool’s defense. While Liverpool is closing in on Kim, other transfer news is emerging, with Jurgen Klopp addressing the need for a Liverpool rebuild this summer, and reports suggest there could be a lot of money spent.
