Report: Mikel Arteta aims to bring AC Milan’s loanee Brahim Diaz to Arsenal for next season.

Reports suggest that Arsenal may make a move for Brahim Diaz when the playmaker returns to Real Madrid from his successful loan spell at AC Milan. Despite helping them win the Serie A title last season and reach the Champions League quarter-finals this term, the Rossoneri are unlikely to trigger their option to buy him for €22 million. This leaves Diaz’s future uncertain, despite potentially being reintegrated into the Real Madrid team. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is believed to be an admirer of his compatriot and could offer a new home for the attacking midfielder. During his three-year loan at Milan, Diaz made 110 appearances and scored 16 goals, playing mainly as a traditional No.10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Valued at €20 million by Transfermarkt, Diaz has earned just one Spain cap, scoring in a 4-0 win over Lithuania in June 2021. Alongside a potential move for Diaz, Arsenal are leading the way in the race to sign Declan Rice, with rumours of a contract being agreed. Manchester City are also said to be interested, while West Ham have a successor lined up. Additionally, reports suggest that Arsenal are targeting Raheem Sterling, a centre-forward, and Raphinha, with Rasmus Holjund of Atalanta and January target Ivan Fresneda also on their radar. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Mykhaylo Mudryk, who turned down Arsenal in the winter window, has addressed rumours of his supposed unhappiness at Stamford Bridge.
