Report: N’golo Kante eyeing a move to Arsenal
According to several sources including the Mirror and Le Parisien, Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante is looking to join London rivals Arsenal after his contract expires this summer.
The France international reportedly sees a move to Emirates as an opportunity to resurrect his career ahead of next summer’s Euros. He will be reunited with former midfield partner Jorginho, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a great admirer of Kante’s qualities.
Kante has been a key figure in delivering a Premier League and Champions League title during his time at Stamford Bridge, but injuries have restricted his involvement over the past year. Chelsea’s talks of a new contract with the World Cup winner have failed, and the Blues are open to seeing Kante leave.
Landing a player of Kante’s caliber on a free transfer is seen as a no-brainer for Arsenal, who are looking to add depth to their midfield next season, especially when Tomas Partey is missing. Kante’s arrival would provide quality cover and competition, as Arteta plans for Champions League football next term.
