Real Madrid Eyes Chelsea’s Star Reece James as New Right-Back

Reece James, Chelsea’s impressive academy graduate, is catching the interest of Real Madrid. Los Blancos are on the lookout for a new right-back, and James’ all-around play has made him a top target. Although he faced injury setbacks earlier in the season, he was one of the best right-backs in Europe under Thomas Tuchel, showing prowess in both defending and attacking.

Even though James signed a six-year deal with Chelsea last September, Real Madrid sees an opportunity given the club’s uncertain situation. With the possibility of missing out on Champions League football and undergoing a rebuild this summer, a new challenge may be welcome for James.

While James may break the world record for the full-back sale, costing €70m, Real Madrid believes he is worth the investment. Chelsea has already signed a potential replacement in Lyon defender Malo Gusto, so the Blues may consider selling James to Real Madrid to fund other transfers.

Other options on Real Madrid’s radar include Joao Cancelo and Juan Foyth, but James is their primary target. Real Madrid may turn to James if they fail to capture Borussia Dortmund teen, Jude Bellingham, whom they value at £100m.

Despite the interest, Chelsea is not pressured to sell, and James is unlikely to push for a transfer so soon after signing his contract. However, if Real Madrid comes calling, it might be hard for the talented right-back to resist.
