Saturday’s Transfer Gossip: Nagelsmann, Mendy, Kovacic, Paqueta, and Sangare in the Spotlight

German football manager, Julian Nagelsmann, has emerged as the top contender to replace Antonio Conte as the next Tottenham Hotspur boss. The former Bayern Munich manager, who reportedly has a soft spot for Spurs, is in talks with the Premier League club. However, Real Madrid could potentially snatch Nagelsmann as their next manager, should Carlo Ancelotti leave. Meanwhile, newly-appointed Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel plans to sign Anthony Barry, Chelsea’s English assistant coach, and former players Edouard Mendy and Mateo Kovacic. Manchester United has also expressed interest in Kovacic. Other transfer speculations include Arsenal selling Nicolas Pepe, West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta leaving in the summer if the Hammers are relegated, and PSV Eindhoven considering offers for midfielder Ibrahim Sangare from top English clubs. Barcelona is optimistic that Uefa will not ban the club from European competition amid ongoing allegations of payments to previous referees’ officials. Finally, Chelsea’s owner, Todd Boehly, has partnered with Football for Ukraine to hold a fundraising match at Stamford Bridge in August.
