Manchester City’s 19-year-old prospect, Shea Charles, could consider a loan move to one of the City Football Group’s sister clubs if he is looking for regular first-team football. Charles has been linked with Borussia Dortmund, but he has played down the speculations and said that his focus at the moment is City. The youngster has made two strong performances for Northern Ireland, further boosting his stock, and he could benefit from playing regularly in another league. Michael O’Neill started him in both matches this window, including the match against Finland, where he emerged as one of Northern Ireland’s best players.
As part of City since the under-9s squad, Charles has yet to make his senior debut for the club with only one appearance on the bench but is currently training with the first team. Charles stated that playing for the seniors is vastly different from playing for the City under-21s, with the higher level of opposition immediately obvious.
Despite the challenge, Charles says he enjoys playing against older players and elevating his game. If minutes on the first team are not forthcoming, a loan move to another club in the City Football Group could be favorable for Charles’s development.
