Julian Nagelsmann Among the Top Contenders to Fill Tottenham’s Managerial Vacancy After Conte’s Departure
After Antonio Conte departed by mutual consent, Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Julian Nagelsmann regarding their managerial vacancy. The club has been able to draw up a list of potential candidates, and Nagelsmann is said to be a frontrunner, having been shockingly sacked by Bayern Munich on Friday. Other contenders include Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi, Steve Cooper, and Thomas Frank.
Tottenham supporters are said to be pining for Pochettino’s return, as he remains a popular choice with the fanbase. However, some opposition exists due to his previous dismissal from the club in November of 2019. The management board is reportedly considering moving back to the club’s traditional roots by hiring a coach who will play expansive and exciting football.
Luis Enrique, who was most recently in charge of the Spain national team, is also being considered. His style, however, may not be the correct fit for the Tottenham roster, given his lack of experience in club management. Oliver Glasner and Roberto De Zerbi are additional names in the running, with Glasner deploying a similar system to Conte’s preference of playing with a back three with wing-backs.
