Wrexham Continues Hollywood Fairytale as Owners Celebrate Latest Wins
Over the weekend, Wrexham FC achieved a historic double-header win, with the men’s team remaining at the top of the National League and the women’s team securing promotion in front of a packed stadium. The club’s owners, Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, got thoroughly involved in the celebrations, with Reynolds even taking a swig from one of the bottles of champagne.
More impressively, this was the first promotion the owners have celebrated since taking over the club during the pandemic. During the men’s team’s victory, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively was also present to watch Wrexham’s impressive performance, posing for selfies with fans and signing autographs afterwards. For Reynolds and McElhenney, their popular docuseries, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, has allowed neutral observers to feel a part of the club.
Wrexham FC has been languishing in the fifth tier since 2008, but since the Hollywood duo shocked the footballing world by purchasing the club in February 2021, they have pumped money into it, leading to increasing success that has surprised fans and observers alike.
Although their League Two status for next season is still uncertain, Wrexham fans remain optimistic about the club’s future, thanks to its new owners’ commitment and investment.
